Advanced Treatment
A safe, non-invasive treatment using specific wavelengths of light to reduce pain, accelerate healing, and restore function — with no drugs and no downtime.
What is PBMT?
Photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) — also known as low-level laser therapy (LLLT) — uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to stimulate biological processes within cells.
When light energy is absorbed by mitochondria (the cell's energy centres), it triggers a cascade of beneficial effects: increased ATP production, reduced oxidative stress, decreased inflammation, and accelerated tissue repair.
The result is meaningful pain relief and faster healing — without drugs, injections, or recovery time. PBMT is backed by decades of peer-reviewed research and is recognised by leading pain and rehabilitation bodies worldwide.

Why Choose PBMT
PBMT offers a compelling combination of effectiveness, safety, and convenience that makes it suitable for a wide range of patients.
PBMT requires no injections, no incisions, and no medications. It is a completely non-invasive treatment with no known side effects when applied correctly.
Many patients experience a noticeable reduction in pain and inflammation within just a few sessions. Treatment is quick — typically 10–20 minutes per area.
PBMT stimulates cellular energy production (ATP), promoting faster tissue repair, reduced swelling, and improved circulation at the treatment site.
Sessions are brief and comfortable. Most patients sit or recline while the device is applied — no anaesthesia or recovery time required.
PBMT is safe for a wide range of patients including those who cannot tolerate medications or invasive procedures. It can be combined with other treatments.

Conditions Treated
Our clinic uses PBMT as a standalone treatment and as part of a broader multimodal pain management plan. It is particularly effective for conditions involving the jaw, face, and oral cavity.
The Process
Your clinician will assess your condition, symptoms, and medical history to determine whether PBMT is appropriate and design a personalised treatment protocol.
A handheld laser device is applied directly to the skin over the treatment area. You may feel a gentle warmth. Sessions typically last 10–20 minutes.
Specific wavelengths of light penetrate tissue and are absorbed by mitochondria, stimulating ATP production, reducing inflammation, and promoting repair.
Most conditions require a course of 6–12 sessions, often scheduled 2–3 times per week. Your clinician will monitor your response and adjust as needed.
PBMT is considered very safe when administered by a trained clinician using appropriate parameters. There are no known systemic side effects. However, it is not suitable for all patients. Contraindications include:
Your clinician will conduct a thorough assessment before commencing treatment to ensure PBMT is safe and appropriate for your individual circumstances.
